| Trout Unlimited has many other important contributions to
the Pinedale Area. For instance, Trout
Unlimited has just completed a stream improvement project to remove an old
sewer pipe that was blocking the flow of water in Pine Creek. The job took only two days, but is
going to place an impact on the trout of Pine Creek for a long time. Trout Unlimited was also the first organization to donate money for the CCC ponds. The CCC Ponds were first built near the south end of Fremont Lake in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. About 7 years ago, a team of government agencies, organizations and individuals combined efforts to transform the old CCC Ponds into a cultural, educational, and recreational area. Cooperative efforts by many organizations made the Ponds a reality. The organizations included: Trout Unlimited, Sublette County Conservation District, Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, National Resources Conservation Service, RC & D Council, Wyoming Game & Fish Department, Town of Pinedale, Sublette County, Sublette County Recreation Board, and Sublette County School District #1, and Pinedale Middle School. Organizers combined matching grants, workers, and donations to help fund the project. |
CCC Ponds Trout Unlimited also helps
sponsor the Kids Fishing Day at the CCC ponds. Kids fishing day gives
children of all ages a great experience of fishing. Trout Unlimited has
sponsored Kids Fishing Day for 11 straight years. Many contributions from
Trout Unlimited have made a big difference in our community.
